The owner is a fantastic hostess, very nice and a very good cook. If you need a place to stay for a night and you're in the area, this is an extremely accommodating and comfortable stay. Lots of rooms, all made up well with comfortable beds, and just being in the house itself is a pleasure because it's a really nice building.

We are family! All my brothers, sisters, and me! I could eat nachos all day!

Highland Farm is an amazing place to stay, both for the comfort of the Inn itself as well as its history -- Oscar Hammerstein wrote his famous broadway musicals here: Sound of Music, King and I, etc. The Inn is beautiful, clean, and cozy, with a huge main room with piano and fireplace. You can stay in Oscar's study or his master bedroom, or in upstairs themed rooms: Carousel and Oklahoma. The innkeeper, Christine Cole, is so welcoming and accommodating, eager to give you information about the house/Oscar and the surrounding area, while respecting your privacy. And she makes a fantastic breakfast that is hearty and healthy -- it includes great coffee and fresh fruit. And you get a wine and cheese welcome your first night! I definitely recommend it as a destination -- it will become a museum in the summer of 2018, so be sure to stay there before then.

With some care and work this could be a nice place.

Wow! What a great three night visit at the former Oscar Hammerstein's home. On the second night I heard the grand piano playing a show tune! Hoped it was Oscar's ephemeral essence, turned out to be a songwriter on his first visit to Highland House.

The gracious proprietress, Ms. Christine Cole, was a perfect blend of charm, wit, and historical knowledge of Mr. Hammerstein, his family, and the home he lived for 20 years, raised children, and wrote many of his theatrical productions.

A neat piece of history but this place needs some work. Infested with stink bugs and mice. :(
