The place used to be awesome and is no longer. I always took my boots and shoes there. New owners and low quality. I am updating. The new guy who actually does the work was very kind and listened to what I wanted. He is redoing the work and I believe that is admirable. I'll report back once I give them a chance to make it right.
DO NOT GO THERE! Brought shoes in to have bottom of heels replaced. Went to pickup shoes and the couldn't find them, told me to come back. Went back a 2nd time, the inside soles were torn from what looks like a clamp they used to hold the shoes when attempting to repair them. Owner said it was not from them, which it was blatantly obvious that is was from them. He then said he'd fix it after we argued with him. Then he said he call when done, never did. So when I stopped in to pickup the shoes, the inside soles looked like a kindergartner repaired them. I demanded my money back. He refused, more arguing, then he haggled over how much to give me back. This guy doesn't deserve ANY BUSINESS.
I found their services extremely expensive. I'll definitely will not use them again.
I have been a customer even before she moved to this location. I purposely drive my way out to go to her because she gets the job done the way I like it. I have had my wedding dress altered from her in the past because it was way too long. She shortened it like magic. Besides the excellent alteration, the shoes I take in to fix always looked brand new after heel/sole replacement. I personally like the fact that she is very friendly and remembers my name and my kid.
Customer beware! They will steal your items! I have taken many pairs of shoes to Veteran's Lane over the years. It used to belong to someone who did quality work for a reasonable price, and ran the business with integrity. After his lamentable passing, it was taken over by an Asian family. I continued to give them my business because I felt a sense of loyalty to the previous shop owner. I had given them a great deal of business since they assumed the role, but my last experience is the last opportunity I will ever give them to earn my money. I brought a dress with a broken zipper there to be fixed and they straight up lost it. Then they told me that I never brought them a dress and tried to make me second guess myself that I ever brought it in to begin with. The owner refused to give me any concession on the price of the other items I brought him (two pairs of shoes and a torn handbag to the tune of $69) and called me a liar. He waved a notebook in front of me and a paper tag with pencil markings on it as the only record of what I dropped off- and never gave me a receipt when I did so initially. (My fault for not asking, but I made the mistake of trusting them.) The work they do is expensive and really not that stellar...they know they are the only game in town and can get away with it. They are piggybacking on the success of the previous owner with their illegitimate business practices and it's execrable. Furthermore, the good name of the business is being adulterated by a bunch of outsiders who know nothing about customer service or quality work at a fair price.
